Distribution
Tropical Africa: From Sudan and Ethiopia in the north to Zambia and Malawi in the south.
Taxonomy
This is a polytypic species[1] consisting of 5 subspecies.
Formerly placed in the genus Parisoma.

Sylvia lugens has five subspecies:
