South-east Asia: found in the Philippines.

There are 5 subspecies:

  • D. h. cagayanensis:
  • Northern Philippines (Sierra Madre Mountains of nort-eastern Luzon)
  • D. h. obscurum:
  • Northern Philippines (central and southern Luzon and Catanduanes)
  • D. h. pontifex:
    Philippines (Bohol, Samar, Leyte, Dinagat, Panaon, Mindanao)
  • D. h. mindanense:
  • D. h. hypoleucum:
  • Southern Philippines (Basilan, Bongao, Jolo, Tawitawi and Siasi)

Habitat

Forest, edge and scrub, below 1500 m.
