Genus: Oreothraupis
Description
This genus contains only one species, the Tanager Finch from Colombia and Ecuador.
A big, bulky finch with a relatively short bill and a pot-bellied structure.
Taxonomy
Oreothraupis is treated here as a genus in the family Passerellidae.
Some authorities treat this as a Tanager and place it in Thraupidae. Restall treat it as a close relative to Brush-Finches of genus Atlapetes. According to SACC3, evidence is weakly in favor of the treatment as a Tanager.
