Genus: Pteruthius
Description
This genus contains the five Shrike-Babblers from SE-Asia.
They are quite divergent in size and coloration but they share a stout black hook-tipped bill and short rictal bristles and they are sexually dimorphic.
Taxonomy
Pteruthius is a genus in the Family Vireonidae.
Recent studies show that this genus does not belong with the Babblers but with the American Vireos. There is also a proposal to split this genus into 19 species! (see link)
