Genus: Ptilopachus
Description
One or two species of Francolins/Partridges from Africa.
Taxonomy
Ptilopachus is a monotypic genus in the family Phasianidae. Recent DNA results[1] place this genus instead with New World quails, resulting in the genus being reassigned to family Odontophoridae. In this arrangement, Nahan's Francolin will be moved to also be a member of this genus. These changes have not yet been accepted by a sufficient number of world wide checklists for Opus to follow.
