Formerly included in Great Tit, together with Japanese Tit.

There are 12 subspecies^[1]:

P. c. caschmirensis: North-eastern Afghanistan to northern Pakistan and north-western India
P. c. ziaratensis: Southern Afghanistan to northern Baluchistan and Pakistan
P. c. decolorans: South-eastern Afghanistan (east of Kabul and south of the Hindu Kush)
P. c. planorum: Northern India to Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and western Myanmar
P. c. vauriei: Eastern Assam (Lakhimpur district) and eastern Arunachal Pradesh
P. c. stupae: Central and peninsular India
P. c. mahrattarum: South-western India (Kerala) and Sri Lanka
P. c. templorum: North-eastern Thailand to southern Laos and southern Vietnam
P. c. hainanus: Hainan (southern China)
P. c. ambiguus: South-eastern Myanmar, peninsular Thailand, Malaya and Sumatra
P. c. cinereus: Java and western Lesser Sundas
P. c. sarawacensis: Borneo (western Sarawak)

Breeds in all kinds of woodland (incl. in desolate taiga in far north) and in immediate proximity of man in parks and gardens.

Insects and seeds, suet, beech nuts etc.
