Identification

17.5 cm

• Greyish-brown upperparts, streaked black
• Rufous crown
• Grey median stripe
• Pale grey underparts
• White belly
• Cinnamon flanks and undertail
• Black moustache and malar stripe
• Grey ear coverts

Distribution

Small range in Pacific slope at isthmus of southern Mexico.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species^[1].

Was formerly placed in genus Aimophila.

Habitat

Arid plains and scrub to 900m.

Behaviour

Usually in pairs or small flocks. Active at dawn, but difficult to see during the rest of the day.
