Distribution
South America: found in Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 3 subspecies[1]
- M. t. bitorquata:
- Cerrado of eastern Bolivia (north-eastern Santa Cruz)
- M. t. rufescens:
- M. t. torquata:
- Cerrado of interior eastern Brazil (southern Piauí and western Bahia)
Bitorquata is not recognised by all authorities[2].
Habitat
Tall grassland and savanna.
