Subspecies

Two subspecies are recognized^[1]:

• C. c. cucullata -- Comoro Islands (Grande Comoro)
• C. c. moheliensis -- Comoro Islands (Mohéli)

This species and Madagascar Cuckoo-shrike were previously considered one species, Ashy Cuckooshrike.
