Identification

17–19·5 cm

Distribution

Central America: endemic to Mexico

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies[1]:

  • C. m. megalopterus:
  • C. m. nelsoni:
  • Mountains of southern Mexico (eastern Puebla, south-western Veracruz and Oaxaca)

Habitat

Coniferous forests. Observed at heights around 1,313 m.

Behaviour

Diet

There is little information available. They probably eat invertebrates.
