Hylophilus semicinereus

Identification

12 cm
It has a whitish iris and dull grey underparts with greenish yellow on the sides of the chest. The crown and nape are grey while the forehead and remaining upperparts are olive.

Distribution

South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, The Guianas, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil.

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 3 subspecies[1]:

  • H. s. viridiceps:
  • H. s. semicinereus:
  • Northern Brazil south of lower Amazon (Maranhão to n Mato Grosso)
  • H. s. juruanus:
  • North-western Brazil (south of Rio Solimões)

Habitat

Canopy and borders of forest and secondary woodland.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists of small insects.
