Identification
Also known as Snowy Plover,Peruvian Plover, Chilean Plover.
15-17 cm long. Upperparts are greyish brown and the underparts white, black legs.
Distribution
Japan, Peru, Chile, the southern USA and the Caribbean.
Taxonomy
Habitat
Sandy coasts and brackish inland lakes, and is uncommon on fresh water.
Behaviour
It nests in a ground scrape and lays 3-5 eggs.
Diet includes insects and other invertebrates.
