Identification
- Black head

Female has dark grey head.
Distribution
Comoros, Madagascar, and Mayotte.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
3 subspecies recognized[1]:
- C. c. cinera in northern and eastern Madagascar
- C. c. pallida in central, western and south-western Madagascar
- C. c. cucullata on the Comoro Islands
Cucullata is sometimes split as Comoros Cuckoo-shrike, Coracina cucullata.
The birds from Moheli Island are sometimes put in the subspecies moheliensis which is not accepted by everyone[2].
Habitat
Dry and moist evergreen forests and forest edges.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of a variety of invertebrates, including beetles, butterflies and moths, crickets etc.
