Coracina cinerea

Identification

  • Black head
  • Light grey underparts
  • Dark grey upperparts

Female has dark grey head.

Distribution

Madagascar.

Taxonomy

Subspecies

Two subspecies recognized[1]:

  • C. c. cinera in northern and eastern Madagascar
  • C. c. pallida in central, western and south-western Madagascar

This species and Comoro Cuckooshrike were previously considered one species, Ashy Cuckooshrike.

Habitat

Dry and moist evergreen forests and forest edges.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists of a variety of invertebrates, including beetles, butterflies and moths, crickets etc.
