Description

In 2002, Leo Joseph published a paper showing that Madeira Parakeet was a full species. Despite its English name it is also found outside the drainage basin of the Madeira River as in this case. The key to identification lies in the trademark narrow black vertical marks on a very pale background giving that pointed appearance of the feathers on the chest.

Identification

Photographed: Cristalino Lodge, Mato Grosso, Brazil.
