Identification

Mainly black, with areas that are brownish orange on rump, most of underside, and a patch on the wing; hood is supposed to be reddish-brown, but seeing that as different from black takes excellent light. Sexes are identical.

Distribution

Endemic to Martinique where most common in the south part and the north central mountain area. Threatened by Shiny Cowbird[2].

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Both humid and drier forested areas[2].

Behaviour

Diet includes insects, fruit and berries. In season, they seem very closely linked to flowering heliconia[3].
