Taxonomy

There are seven species; there is but one genus, Eurostopodus. Previously, they were considered a subfamily Eurostopodinae of the nightjar and nighthawk family Caprimulgidae.

Habitat

Forest and scrub.

Behaviour

Diet includes insects taken on the wing.

The nest is made of dry leaves, often at the foot of a tree. 1 egg is laid.
