Eastern Africa: eastern Sudan, Eritrea, northern Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia
Middle East: Arabian Peninsula, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Oman.

This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Woods, bush country and gardens.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists mostly of seeds, including those of cereal crops.
Vocalisation
A loud metallic chirping.
