Identification

Distribution

Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, and Guyana.

Taxonomy

Five subspecies are recognized1: scutatus, occidentalis, masoni, granadensis, and orenocensis.

Habitat

Moist midlevel forests and montanes.

Behaviour

Rarely flies above canopy.
