Endemic to Indonesia: Mountains of Sumatra and western Java.
Taxonomy
A monotypic species.
Status of rosenbergii
Some authorities (Clements, 2007; Sibley & Monroe, 1996) place New Guinea Woodcock (rosenbergii) within S. saturata. However, Howard & Moore (2003) recognize it as a full species and the Opus awaits further clarification.
