Apalis ruwenzorii

Identification

Length 10 cm
Upperparts dark slate grey, lores black, ear coverts dark slate grey. Thin white submoustachial streak to sides of neck ( often not visible in field ). Chin and throat rufous buff, narrow dark grey breast band, lower breast and flanks rufous buff. Rest of underparts white. Wings black, tail black with white outer tail feathers.
Eye red, bill black, legs pinkish horn.

Distribution

Africa: found in the Albertine Rift of Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Subspecies A. r. catiodes is generally considered invalid[2].
Sometimes placed in genus Oreolais.

Habitat

Found above 1000m between the canopy and mid-strata of forests.
