Campocolinus schlegelii

Peliperdix schlegelii


• 23 cm / 9 inches

• Male 250 gm / 9 ounces

• Female 220 gm / 7 ½ ounces

• Orangish or dusty yellow head

• Black bill with some yellow

• Yellow legs

• Male has single spur while female usually has none

• Juvenile looks somewhat like adult female


Cameroon, Northern Central African Republic, Southern Chad, and extreme southwestern Sudan, and northwestern South Sudan


This is a monotypic species[1].
Formerly placed in genus Francolinus.

Plant material, larval stage of some insects


Plant material lined hollow where around 6 cream-colored eggs are laid

Thought to be monogamous.
