Identification

11.5-13 cm. Streaked brown back and pale underparts, cream supercilium, strong and pointed bill, grey-brown legs. The sexes are identical.

Distribution

Europe and Asia, winters in sub-Saharan Africa.

Habitat

Reed beds with bushes.

Behaviour

3-5 eggs are laid in a nest made in reeds or a bush.

The diet includes insects and berries.
