Identification

Similar to Pygmy Antwren but with a much shorter bill.

Distribution

Amazonian areas in southern Colombia, Ecuador, northern half of Peru, and nearest parts of Brazil.

Taxonomy

This is currently a monotypic species1.

A proposal to merge this species into Moustached Antwren, which itself has to first be split from Pygmy Antwren, has been accepted by one of the world wide checklists, but not by the other.

Habitat

Borders of tall forest, forest streams, etc.

Behaviour

Eats insects.
