Identification

- Slate-grey upperparts
- Underparts slightly lighter
- White throat with dark streaks
Distribution
South America: found in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and North-west Argentina.

Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- T. n. nigriceps: Slaty Thrush (Andean):
- T. n. subalaris: Slaty Thrush (Eastern):
The subspecies subalaris is sometimes considered to be a separate species, the Eastern Slaty Thrush.
Habitat
Temperate forests and moist lowland and montane forests.
Behaviour
Diet
Their main diet consists of fruit, supplemented with snails, beetles, flies etc.
