Identification

Also called Southern Bald Ibis. Photo taken: near Bergville, Kwa-Zulu Natal, RSA

Geronticus eremita#Geronticus calvus

the Southern Bald Ibis Geronticus calvus witch occur in South africa only (not Morocco as it's mentioned in the text above) is quite different species from Northern Bald Ibis Geronticus ermeita witch indeed live and breed almost only in Morocco. So ,can you please correct this confusion !! unfortunatly the ClubMedproject envisaged in south of the Agadir area 3005' -3022' N-935' threatens seriously this very scare species which is at the blink of extinction. Here the greater world colony (147 paires) nests in this region. Another smaller colony occur at about 100km north of Agadir near Tamri village (3043'N-9 51'W). A german projetc to re-introduce Bald Ibis in the Middle-Atlas mountain at Taza province is naw launched.
