South America,: found in Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay andArgentina

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies^[1]:

• S. m. modestus:

• Tropical eastern Peru to eastern Brazil (Maranhão, Pernambuco and Paraná)

• S. m. brevirostris:

• East Bolivia to Paraguay, Uruguay and central Argentina

Habitat

They breed in dry scrub and open deciduous woodland.

Behaviour

Diet

Their main diet consists of arthropods.
