Alternative name: Spotted Great Rosefinch

Identification

Distribution

Mongolia to Central Asia, Afghanistan, Kashmir, India, Nepal, Tibet and southwest China.

Taxonomy

Three subspecies recognized:

  • C. s. severtzowi
  • C. r. diabolicus:
  • C. r. kobdensis:
  • Alai Mountains of western Mongolia to eastern and central Altai Mountains

It was formerly considered conspecific with Great Rosefinch and might be lumped again with that species.
