Identification
Distribution
Mongolia to Central Asia, Afghanistan, Kashmir, India, Nepal, Tibet and southwest China.
Taxonomy
Three subspecies recognized:
- C. s. severtzowi
- C. r. diabolicus:
- North-eastern Afghanistan (Sanglech region)
- C. r. kobdensis:
- Alai Mountains of western Mongolia to eastern and central Altai Mountains
It was formerly considered conspecific with Great Rosefinch and might be lumped again with that species.
