Identification

9-10 cm.

Distribution

Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Panama.

Taxonomy

Habitat

Forests; prefers dry to wet, semi-deciduous & gallery forest where it frequents the understorey.

Behaviour

The diet includes insects. Perches low, just above (or even on) the ground where it scans the vegetation above before sallying upward to pick a hidden insect from the underside of a leaf or twig.
