Turdus unicolor

Identification

20–25 cm (7¾-9¾ in)
Male:

  • Uniform blue-grey upperparts
  • Whitish belly and vent.

Females and young birds have browner upperparts.

Distribution

Himalayas of Kashmir to Nepal; winters to southern peninsula India

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Open montane forest and orchards.

Behaviour

Solitary.

Diet

Omnivorous: their diet consists of a variety of insects, earthworms and berries.

Breeding

They nest in low vegetation. The nest is a deep cup.
