Lophura hatinhensis

Identification

58-65 cm. Blue-black, short, shaggy white crest, red facial skin and white central tail feathers. Female grey-brown with warmer tinged wings and black tail with brown central tail feathers.

Distribution

N-central Vietnam.

Taxonomy

A monotypic species. Discovered in 1964.
A bird seen in 1990 and belived to be an Imperial Pheasant might have been a hybrid of this species with Silver Pheasant.
Some authorities no longer accept this species as the description is inadequate and variations in Edwards's Pheasant are still unresolved.

Lowland evergreen forests.
