Aepypodius bruijnii

Identification

43 cm

  • Dull brown plumage
  • Grey upperparts
  • Chestnut breast
  • Pink naked face

Male: small red comb and three pendulous red wattles

Distribution

The species is endemic to the island of Waigeo off of Indonesian West Papua.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

The species occurs at low density in high-altitude forests above 620 m.

Behaviour

The male builds a mound to incubate the eggs.
