Africa:
Western Africa: Cameroon, Nigeria, Gabon, Congo, DRC, Angola
Eastern Africa: Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya

Taxonomy

Western Black-headed Apalis and Eastern Black-headed Apalis have recently been split from each other with prior name being just Black-headed Apalis.

Subspecies

Two subspecies are recognized[1].

Habitat

A variety of open woodland and grassland with trees as well as gardens.

Behaviour

Food mostly consists of insects caught mainly by sallying but uses gleaning when needed.

Vocalisation

Drawn out whistling notes with equal pitch.
