Subspecies
Pericrocotus erythropygius has two subspecies:[1]
- P. e. erythropygius
- Peninsular India (Punjab and Rajasthan to Bihar and Mysore)
- P. e. albifrons
Habitat
Open, dry deciduous thorn forest, acacia scrub.
Behaviour
Diet
Their main diet consists of insects, which includes grasshoppers and spiders.
Breeding
The pair share the construction of the nest, which is a small tidy cup formed from grass and fibres and lined with flowering grass
