Coracina pectoralis

Identification

Length 25-27 cm. A large grey and white cuckoo-shrike. Dark eye and bill and grey legs.

Adult male: Upperparts, head and throat grey; breast, belly and lower tail coverts white.

Adult female: Similar to the male, but with whitish throat and chin.

Juvenile: Barred above and spotted below.

Distribution

Africa: A band from Senegambia to Ethiopia; Ethiopia to Mozambique and north-eastern South Africa; Zimbabwe, Malawi and Zambia to Angola and extreme northern Namibia.

Tall woodland; mainly miombo and riverine forest.

Vocalization

Male duid-duid; female tchee-ee-ee-ee.
