Taxonomy

Subspecies[1]

There are 2 subspecies

  • M. a. harterti:

Two additional subspecies, leucolaema and collaris (Ruaha Chat, found only in Rwanda) are not generally recognised[2]. However, a recent paper not only present evidence that this should be a valid taxon, but also that it should be recognized as a full species[4].

Dry forests.

Behaviour

In Rwanda they don't inhabit miombo woodland like across the border in Tanzania but human habitations and nest in roofs.
