White-tailed Hillstar was split into two species which after some renaming now are:
- Rufous-gaped Hillstar, Urochroa bougueri, from south-western Colombia and north-western Ecuador
- Green-backed Hillstar, Urochroa leucura, east of the Andes from Southern Colombia to Peru
