Hi There Fellow Banders
Well,on Friday evening my trainee got 12 nets up and furled ready for an early start on saturday, first light.
This time he has staying with him 2 experienced ringers from the UK.
By the time I turned up just before first light at 07.00 hrs they already had the nets open.
Things have started to pick now down here with an interesting mix of new birds and retraps.
NEW BIRDS RETRAPS
BLACKCAP 8 3
WINTER WREN 1 1
SARDINIAN WARBLER 2 4
ROBIN 2 0
GOLDFINCH 4 0
CHIFFCHAFF 1 1
The "best" bird was the retrapped Chiffchaff, which was originally ringed at this site on 23rd.February 2003.,in exactly the same area of the site.At that time it was a first winter bird so was born in summer of 2002.
This bird was also retrapped here on 15th.March 2003.
