I'm completely stuck with these...any ideas? (1 Viewer)

Hey everyone,

The first three pictures were taken in Limpopo near Nylstroom/Modimolle, and the fourth in my garden in Pretoria. Can anybody help in identifying them? The bird in the first 2 pictures was no bigger than 10 cm. The one in the fourth may have been around 20cm, perhaps.

Any tips would be appreciated,

Hanko

Hi Hanko,

The bird in your first two pics is a Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird. The 3rd pic is a cisticola of sorts, possibly Neddicky, but not sure anyone can make a positive ID from the photo. The 4th pic is a female Thick-billed Weaver.

Thanks, but are you sure it is a Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird, and not rather Yellow-fronted? According to Roberts, the Yellow-rumped isn't exactly found in the Limpopo area.
