Monday April 18, 2005:
Two MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were seen near Uplands Road and Hammond Bay Road, on the walkway between Dover Bay School and the Ocean Walk Strata Complex.
An OLIVED-SIDED FLYCATCHER, HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHERS, CASSIN'S VIREO, YELLOW-RUMPED, ORANGE-CROWNED, BLACK-THROATED, TOWNSENDS and MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLERS, COMMON YELLOWTHROATS, CHIPPING SPARROWS, PURPLE FINCH and AMERICAN GOLDFINCH were seen in the Douglas fir forest and clearcuts beyond the end of Peterson Road west of Parksville.
One female AMERICAN KESTRAL and one NORTHERN HARRIER were at the Nanaimo River Estuary in south Nanaimo
One COMMON MURRE was spotted offshore at Yellow Point in Cedar.

Sunday April 17:
One HERMIT THRUSH was seen at the Morrell Sanctuary in Nanaimo
A BLACK SWIFT was sighted at Bowen and Northfield Roads, flying towards Highway 19.
AN EVENING GROSBEAK was spotted along Western Acres Road in Nanaimo.
The Sunday Bird Walk on April 17 went to the Morrell Sanctuary in Nanaimo. Fifteen birders found the following 35 species:

Saturday April 16:
A TOWNSEND'S SOLATAIRE was seen at the end of Kaye Road behind the Government Weight Scales in Parksville.
AN ORANGE-CROWNED and a YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, two SPOTTED TOWHEES, one BROWN CREEPER, and one WINTER WREN were seen at the Chase River Estuary in south Nanaimo.

Friday April 15:
Three GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE and a semi-albino CANADA GOOSE were seen at the Springfords Farm on Northwest Bay Road in Nanoose Bay.

Thursday April 14:
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS, PINE SISKINS, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, NORTHERN FLICKERS, CALIFORNIA QUAIL, PACIFIC-SLOPED FLYCATCHERS, GREAT BLUE HERON and two CHEASTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEES were seen in the 1300 block of Ivor Road in Cedar.


Wednesday April 13:
A TOWNSEND'S SOLATAIRE was spotted on the Holden Creek side of the Nanaimo River Estuary in south Nanaimo.

Tuesday April 12:
AN AMERICAN GOLDFINCH is coming to feeders at the Jingle Pot R.V Campgrounds in Nanaimo.
Twelve WILSON'S SNIPE were seen at the Jingle Pot Marsh near Jingle Pot Road and Third Street in Nanaimo.
A HERMIT THRUSH was spotted in a yard along Granite Park Road in Nanaimo.
Two SAVANNAH SPARROWS are in a yard in the 100 block of Meridian Way in Parksville.

Monday April 11:
One WILSONS SNIPE was seen calling very loudly from the top of a garage roof in the 2500 block of Glenayr Drive in Nanaimo.

Sunday April 10:
A YELLOW WARBLER was sighted in the 2500 block of Glenayr Drive in Nanaimo.
