Seabirds at Rockham Beach, North Devon (1 Viewer)

I don't know anything about birds but i need to find out what these birds are called!

I was just recently on holiday at Mortehoe in North Devon and took a trip down to Rockham Beach. After some climbing over several rock formations I found a secluded spot of beach and large rock formations all around it.

There were 3-4 birds that were becoming very agitated as soon as I approached the area.

They had long legs, long and bright orange beak, black and white colouring, reasonably large and made a very loud and high-pitched noise.

I have looked on the tinternet and I have an inkling they are Oystercatchers but I'm not sure.

Please can soemone help.
Thanks, Dave

Yes Dave,

They were Oystercatchers! They are very common in our lovely county and can be seen all around the Devon coastline.

Hope you enjoyed yourself in this part of the world.

Thanks very much Terry.

Yes I enjoyed myself very much, a beautiful area in every way.
I feel miserable now though being back in this s*£!ehole that is West London.

Thanks once again
Dave

Dave

I got totally fed up living inland and my wife and I took the decision to do something positive - so we moved to Devon 16 years ago. We raised our kids here, upgraded our life quality and every day breathe in fresh sea air! The birding's fantastic too. If you ever get the chance, then take it - you only live once!
