i'm of to Bavaria on Thursday, down side is that it's not for birding, it's a school trip, the upside is that i can take my binoculars and tick of as many species as possible! We are visiting the Bavarian Alps, Nurenburg, Munich, Ausburg etc.

i've got a list of birds which i most want to see, can you help me by telling me how realistic they are, and any other good ones for me to find?

Rough leged buzzard
Golden eagle
Rock partridge
Alpine accentor
Wallcreeper
Great grey shrike
Nutcracker
Alpine chough
Snow finch
Snow bunting
Rock bunting

cheers!

hi

I live in Bavaria. on the species you want to see I can give you some comments:

Rough leged buzzard
winter vivistor, but quite rare (I've never seen one so far)

Golden eagle
regular in the alps. watch the sky.

Rock partridge
in the bavarian alps very rare.

Alpine accentor
regular, but not always easy to find.

Wallcreeper
rare, hard to find

Great grey shrike
rare breeder, but more common in winter.

Nutcracker
common in the Alps, can also be seen in Munich

Alpine chough
common in the alps.

Snow finch
in winter you can find them at skiing stations

Snow bunting
rare in winter

Rock bunting
as far as I know very rare breeding in the north west.
