Great Blue Heron behavior (1 Viewer)

When I was in the United States (Orlando, Florida to be specific) in January, I saw a Great Blue Heron hunting fishes up to 9 pm, in the dark and extremely close to people. Wanted to know about this behavior. Is it normal?

Thanks

Great Blue Herons are the most common heron in the USA. I am guessing that there were electric lights nearby?

I have never heard of GBHs hunting in true darkness, but I have seen them very approachable - like gulls and pigeons - in areas where the food and people are abundant.
