3rd rarest raptor in the world (Phalcoboenus australis)

... and this was the reason for the Steamer Duck's aggression. This juvenile Striated Caracara had landed about 8 feet behind me on some rocks, and had its beady eye on the ducklings. Not for long though, as the male duck made him retreat pretty sharply. Apparently Striated Caracaras are the 3rd rarest birds of prey in the world. Not that you would know on Carcass Island, where they seem to be everywhere!
