Christmas Island Red Crab
There are 50 million (or possibly 100 million from one source) red crabs on Christmas Island, and once a year around November they all migrate to the coast to lay their eggs. We didn't see that of course but they were everywhere and you had to drive very carefully to avoid them.

Great name for this Crab. Camaflouge is not its strong suit (lol). Beautiful crab species Peter!

How beautiful they are.. There's no way in H**L I could eat something that beautiful.
 
great photo of this beautifully coloured and patterned crab, Peter. Looked on wikipedia, this annual migration seems quite impressive indeed; top class, many tfs!!
