Beaver Damage (Castor fiber)

Checking some of my older files before archiving them, I remembered I'd not recorded this in my Gallery and actually want to put it in the Opus on the Kinnordy page.

There are now Beavers at Kinnordy, they've been there are year or two now. They've been gnawing at the trees, as you can see.
Habitat
Inland loch and woodland nature reserve
Location
Kinnordy RSPB Reserve, Angus
Date taken
28 March 2016
Scientific name
Castor fiber
Equipment used
Fuji Finepix HS50, Landscape programme mode, continuous

Very destructive critters as they slow the flood waters and dranage. But very useful in the right place. Eroded river banks have benefited from their damming and also made homes for countless other wildlife! Lovely shot and narrative Delia! tfs it!

PS. I'd love to see a Red-throated Diver in Summer plumage, but sadly don't think I'll manage it here!

I bet that tree is gone by now :eek!: And yet, "damage" may not be the precise term. Although that tree will certainly go, and many other trees as well, I gather beaver dams tend to be beneficial for biodiversity |=)|
