Scissor-tailed Flycatcher
One of my favorite birds perched on an irrigation spigot. An adult based on fresh pale fringing on wing coverts and tertials. Females average smaller than males and have shorter tails but there is overlap. However this one's tail is so long I feel confident it is an adult male. They are common breeders in Texas from wintering grounds in southern Mexico and Central America. Formerly placed in the genus "Muscivora" but molecular analysis reveals they are just highly modified kingbirds.
