Hovering Sparrow

I prefocused my lens just to the right of my feeder and switched it to manual focus. When the feeder was a bit crowded, the birds would hover for just a second. I started firing and eventually caught one of the little fellas in the right spot.
Habitat

Kansas
Date taken

Equipment used
D-30 / 70-200 2.8L / canon extender ef 2x / speedlite 550EX / Bogen tripod w/arca-swiss ballhead
I was trying that exact thing with the grosbeaks and redpolls this afternoon... but it didn't work. This is a very cool shot of a bird I don't get here.

Did you use High-Speed Sync on the 550EX flash to take this photo? This is a very successful picture and is quite outstanding

Thank you for the comments........Yes I did use high speed sync on the flash. (I always do) I have it mounted on an old tripod head. I have a piece of plywood cut to fit a window. I cut a hole for the lens and that way I can sit inside where it's warm. I have the flash mounted outside, on the other side of the plywood. The feeder is only about 3 meters from the window. I have quite a few shots....problem is, they are almost all sparrows. Thanks again.
