Devil's Nose, West Point (Thalassarche melanophris)

This is a landscape shot of the joint Black Browed Albatross and Rockhopper Penguin colony on West Point Island in the Falklands. It is at the top of some pretty steep cliffs. Obviously this is not a problem for the albatrosses, but it is amazing just how far up the cliffs the penguins have managed to climb. I believe they nest together for added protection from the marauding skuas that are ever present.

superb capture not an easy one, usually my group shots get all bad even under our very very bright sun.

A wonderful composition, lovely detail and the colour is splendid too.
