Egret in a Hurry (Egretta garzetta)

There were four Little Egrets in front of the hide when this was taken and they spent much of the time moving about and annoying one another.

Every time I hear the words Little Egret I start humming a song from my youth called 'Little Egypt'. We used to play it in a band which I was in and I always liked it but I didn't know anything about it. I have just searched on You Tube and was surprised to see that it was recorded by The Coasters and also Elvis! I have just watched a video of him singing it and I will now be humming it to myself all day. Ron

Wow, wow, wow! What an excellent stop-action shot this is right down to the water droplets at its feet.

Spanking action close-up Ron, like this a lot mate, top shot!!!!!!! I just had a look at Elvis doing that song on You Tube, some good memories. I guess your band played more mellow songs than ours, we played mostly blues based stuff. Would I know your band?

Many thanks for your comments. Mali, you definitely wouldn't know my band as it was merely 'youth club' standard but we used to play lots of R&B stuff - the Stones, Pretty Things, Bo Diddley etc. I think there were some later, faster versions of Little Egypt (I found one by the Downliners Sect) which were more like our other stuff. LOL Ron, I bet you never had backing dancers like Elvis did mate.

A lovely picture Ron, excellent timing to get this action. And I would love to hear you singing around the place. I used to play clarinet - but I guess I was a bit more clasically minded although I did enjoy the blues!
